As part of its plans for expansion, the LCEL intends to make an appointment at the level of Associate Professor.

Your role

It is expected that the successful candidate will conduct outstanding research in the areas of EU external relations, EU constitutional law, and EU governance; will assist in the development of interdisciplinary studies in relation to European policy; will apply for external research funding; and undertake such other academic tasks and administrative duties as assigned by the LCEL Director.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of European Union law provided by the Department of Law; and/or to courses related to European integration in other departments of the University, as necessary. She/he will also be expected to undertake supervision of doctoral and post-doctoral candidates, as necessary.

An established record of publications in the above fields, evidence of willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research, and evidence of capacity to secure and manage external research finding are prerequisites for the successful candidate.

Your profile

  • PhD in the field of European Union law
  • At least 3 years of post-PhD research experience in EU constitutional law and/or the external relations of the EU
  • Documented research expertise in the field of European Union constitutional law and/or the external relations of the EU
  • Proven track record in research project acquisition and project management in a leading role
  • Excellent publication record in top-tier conferences/journals in the areas of EU law, especially EU constitutional law and/or external relations, including EU foreign policy law
  • Experience in research collaboration with research units in public and/or private sectors
  • Experience working with/in industry on research and innovation projects and/or experience in interdisciplinary research
  • Ability to assume a leading role in applying for research grants
  • Experience in supervising and/or examining PhD students
  • Experience in designing and teaching university-level courses
