Your journey with us

We are currently looking for an Associate Lawyer EU & Competition to join the rapidly expanding EU & Competition practice within our law firm. As part of our team, you will advise and represent multinational and local companies, governments and European institutions on EU and national competition rules as well as on EU internal market laws.

As a first pillar of our practice, our team handles both contentious and non-contentious EU and Belgian competition law proceedings. We assist on transactions and represent clients in important cases before national courts, the EU Court of Justice, the Belgian Competition Authority and the European Commission. We advise on pricing practices and strategies (discounts, rebates, price discrimination), restrictive agreements, structuring of M&A (incl. exchange of sensitive information and merger notifications), handling of dominant market positions, abuse of economic dependence and state aid compliance.

The second pillar of our practice advises on EU internal market law as real-life matters (such as monopolies or pricing policies) typically raise issues from various legal angles, including free movement, economic sanctions, foreign direct investment, consumer and unfair commercial practices laws. For each matter, we assess and combine these angles to meet the multifaceted needs of our clients.

As part of the Deloitte network, our EU & Competition practice offers a one-stop-service with truly integrated business solutions. Our in-house connections to tax, finance, consulting, strategy, risk advisory, technology and project management experts, with a strong presence of economists, are invaluable and leveraged on a daily basis for our EU and competition law matters.
The practice is led by Wouter Devroe and Richard Steppe, who would be happy to meet and speak about your potential journey at our EU & Competition practice. If you have any questions ahead of applying, please do feel free to get in touch on a confidential basis via rsteppe@deloitte.com
