What will you do?

As General Counsel, you will:

Lead the legal department with vision and purpose, ensuring the delivery of top-tier legal support across the company’s operations.
Assess legal risks but also present practical solutions that align with our business objectives
Provide legal advice on key corporate matters, including company financing, governance, strategic partnerships and M&A.
Play a crucial role in organizing and preparing for shareholder and board meetings, and act as the company secretary.
Collaborate with external legal counsel to deliver cost-effective, high-quality legal services.
Keep the legal team informed about relevant legal developments and ensure proper implementation and training across the company.
Continuously strive for a lean, yet highly effective legal operation that prioritizes results without unnecessary complexity.
Cultivate a strong team culture, fostering urgency, motivation, and collaboration across the department, including working closely with operational teams and executives.

What does our ideal candidate look like?

You have a Belgian master's degree in law and at least 10 years of legal experience in commercial and / or corporate law with the ability to manage a broad range of legal issues across multiple areas.
You are fluent in English and Dutch.
You have experience in the diagnostics, pharmaceutical and life science industry or other regulated sectors.
You have experience in an international company or within a global environment.
You are comfortable with communicating and working with a board of directors, particularly those based in the US.
You have strong interpersonal skills and a hands-on mentality.
