The TMRW Foundation group (TMRW), a leader in innovation and creativity, is looking for a Senior Intellectual Property in-house Counsel.
At TMRW, Intellectual Property (IP) is a centralised function within the legal department. The IP team has global responsibility for all IP work and team provides specialised legal intellectual property advice, risk management support and creative legal solutions to the global business, with a focus on including searching, clearance, filing, renewals, oppositions, infringement, look-a-like products, unfair competition and passing-off, licensing, assignments, mergers and acquisitions as well as domain name registrations, recoveries and acquisitions.
This IP Counsel role is critical in managing and protecting the group’s IP assets worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in IP law, with a focus on strategic management, commercialization, and infringement monitoring and resolution.
Reporting to the head of legal you will be part of the TMRW IP team taking care of the group IP matters, including:
- the development, protection, and maintenance of, amongst others, patents, trademarks, copyrights, domains and trade secrets.
- coordinating and following up with internal and external partners IP matters (communicating with outside law firms to coordinate IP actions, scheduling meetings and appointments related to IP matters…)
- developing comprehensive IP strategies that align with TMRW's objectives and adapt to global market trends
- drafting, where relevant IP related documents (contracts, policies, procedures, patents, mark descriptions)
- docketing and organizing IP-related documents.
- organizing and managing IP-related invoices and payments
- maintaining the TMRW IP inventory up to date
- supporting TMRW IP enforcement tasks
- assisting the IP team with various administrative tasks as required
- Support monetization efforts for IP assets through licensing, partnerships, and other commercial ventures.
- Vigilantly monitor for unauthorized use of IP, proactively manage infringement cases, and implement strategies to prevent IP misuse.
- Ensure adherence to international IP laws and regulations; manage IP litigations and disputes effectively.
- Cross-functional Collaboration with R&D, legal, marketing, and business development teams to optimize the value of IP assets.
- Regularly analyze market trends to identify emerging threats and opportunities related to IP.
- Advanced degree in Law or Engineering, or a related field, with a specialization in Intellectual Property.
- At least 5 years of experience in IP management, including global IP strategy, commercialization, and infringement monitoring. Excellent knowledge of IP filing under USA, WIPO, EU and other systems is an asset.
- Proficient English level. Skills in any other language will be considered as a plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international IP laws and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and execute complex IP agreements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to prioritise and work with different people located in different geographic locations/time zones.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
