Liberius welcomes Jurgen Smits as a Partner in its Brussels-based EU & Competition Practice Group. Jurgen specializes in EU and Dutch competition law and has also dealt with multiple competition law related matters in other parts of the world, including Asia and Africa. He has a special focus on FMCG's and other businesses producing, distributing and selling consumer products and services.
Jurgen joins from HEINEKEN International, where he was Global Head of Competition. Previously he was a competition lawyer with Lovells in Amsterdam and Brussels. Jurgen is an internationally experienced competition lawyer, who translates complex competition law issues into practical solutions and provides companies long term strategic advice how to deal with competition law challenges and opportunities in the future. His inhouse experience provides him with the ability to quickly understand and support the business where needed.
