IMPS The Smurfs is the worldwide licensor of the Smurfs and the exclusive entity responsible for the exploitation of PEYO’s creations, characters and brands. It includes a dynamic full licensing program with a hub of complementary activities in merchandising and promotions, book publishing, broadcasting and other audiovisual rights, music, exhibitions and events.

IMPS is a family owned company, founded and chaired by Peyo’s daughter, Véronique Culliford.

For our client, IMPS The Smurfs, we are looking for a Contract Manager. Fluent in French with excellent command of English.

Tasks

As a member of the legal team you will be in charge of managing IMPS’ licensing and publishing agreements and responsible for the drafting of a diversity of agreements setting forth the guidelines related to the use of the intellectual properties (mainly SMURFS) belonging to IMPS.

You will work under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Legal Department & Business Affairs, and your communication skills and open-mindedness will permit you to collaborate with colleagues from other departments, in a pragmatic work environment.

Your enthusiasm, creativity and flexibility shall contribute to maintain profitable relationships with existing and new clients and to reach common business objectives.

More specifically, you will:

  • Draft and review international contracts of all types and side agreements related thereto and follow up until signature
  • Establish, modify and run licensing templates
  • Verify the contract terms and conditions in the licensing data base, and manage its accuracy
  • Collaborate with colleagues from the commercial department to adjust the business terms during the legal back and forth with licensees
  • Closely observe and report the latest changes in the regulations and decisions and the evolution of the regulations, case laws, trends in the field of IMPS’ activities
  • Ensure compliance with the European regulations
  • Collaborate with colleagues from the legal department on crossdisciplinary thematics and hot topics subjects
  • Participate to the debt collections, and the settlement of other disputes and litigations

Profile

  • You have a Master’s degree in law, with an interest in commercial law
  • You have experience of drafting contracts
  • You have a keen interest in the entertainment industry. A passion for and interest in the Smurfs and the comics industry is a real plus
  • You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • You are rigorous and reliable
  • You are businessminded, problemsolving and have good time management skills
  • You are client and solutionoriented
  • You are a result driven team player
  • You are fluent in French and have an excellent command of English
