The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission provides independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society. The JRC Geel is one of the six JRC sites located across Europe.
Since 1960, the site in Geel brings together multi-disciplinary expertise for developing new measurement methods and tools such as reference materials. It promotes standardisation and harmonisation across the European Union to stimulate innovation and protect consumers and citizens.
Contract: 36 months (renewable up to maximum 6 years) - Full-time.
The position is in the Procurement and Finance team of the unit responsible for the financial and technical resources necessary to support the JRC's activities on the Geel site. The use of these resources must be in in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
The new colleague will manage procurement files and conduct tendering procedures from A to Z. S/He will monitor the financial aspects of calls for tender, handle ongoing litigations, provide legal advice on local legal issues and procurement files and oversee insurance contracts and damage claims for the JRC Geel site.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, organised, pro-active and stress resistant colleague with a university degree in law and experience in legal matters, handling insurances, contract management and procurement. The candidate must have at least 1 year experience in the field.
S/He must be able to work in a team and autonomously under the supervision of the Unit Head. An excellent team spirit and a client and result oriented approach is desirable. An eye for detail, conscientiousness, a good sense of responsibility, well-developed communication skills, diplomacy and discretion are among the qualities required of the ideal candidate.
Very good knowledge of Dutch and English (both level C1) is required. Knowledge of any other EU language would be an asset.
