Role Overview

As an Associate Data Protection Counsel, you’ll be a key part of our growing legal team and play an important role within this crucial function at Satispay Group. You'll take on a variety of tasks that help shape and support our business. Beyond working closely with internal stakeholders across various departments (Product, Marketing, Compliance, etc), you’ll be a main point of contact for our external DPO and auditors, ensuring cohesive communication and alignment on data protection initiatives.

Your mission:

  • Strategic advisory role. Provide expert, strategic guidance on projects and products that impact personal data protection, ensuring alignment with Satispay’s goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Regulatory compliance support. Ensure data processing activities comply with GDPR and other relevant privacy laws, while actively contributing to strategic business objectives.
  • Training and awareness. Conduct training sessions and workshops to embed data protection awareness across all teams.
  • Vendor and third-party compliance. Ensure thorough data privacy due diligence and risk assessments for third-party vendors, helping maintain robust compliance standards.
  • ROPA and Policy framework development. Maintain and update detailed records of data processing activities. Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive data protection policies, procedures, and frameworks that adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Documentation and reporting. Produce comprehensive reports for senior management, internal committees, and the board of directors on the status of the data protection framework. Ensure that data protection considerations are integrated into broader sustainability and governance strategies, contributing to the development and alignment of data privacy initiatives within the context of CSRD and ESG.
  • Regulatory liaison. Assist in managing relationships with data protection authorities and oversee regulatory inquiries and audits.

Your ideal profile:

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in data protection roles, with a strong focus on strategic advisory for complex projects. You are familiar with new technologies impacting data privacy and have an in-depth knowledge of GDPR and data privacy regulations, particularly in Italy and Luxembourg.
  • Educational background. You have a degree in law, you are preferably a qualified lawyer with at least 3 years of experience in primary law firms with strong Data Privacy practice.
  • Strategic and risk-based approach. You can provide strategic advice and align data protection strategies with business objectives, adopting a risk-based approach to manage and navigate data protection challenges.
  • Innovative mindset. You integrate data protection best practices into technological processes and develop solutions that support business innovation.
  • Passion for privacy and strategic impact. You are motivated to embed data protection at the core of business strategy and thrive in a dynamic, innovative environment.
  • Communication skills. You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively advise and influence senior management and engage a variety of stakeholders.
  • Adaptability. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to new challenges and priorities.
  • Language proficiency. You are fluent in English; knowledge of Italian is a plus.
