The role:

As Legal Counsel, you will deal with all legal questions that arise within AB InBev. Your role is varied in content and includes areas of law such as competition law, commercial law, contract law, lease law and dispute resolution. You are at the heart of the organization and have a close relationship with the commercial teams, management as well as colleagues from the Legal & Corporate Affairs team. You will work at our office in Leuven, a 5-minute walk from the railway station. The legal counsel reports to the Head of Legal Belgium and Luxembourg.

What does the job entail?

  • You will mainly provide strategic legal support to the Belgian and Luxembourg commercial teams, especially those focusing on the horeca market, beer wholesalers, events and festivals and national customers (the "on trade" market)
  • Your duties will include providing legal advice, drafting and negotiating contracts, managing the litigation portfolio and directing external service providers (law firms, notary firms, etc)
  • You will maintain close links with the commercial organisation and actively participate in driving our commercial results
  • You will train internal departments on a regular basis on the relevant aspects of competition law, commercial law and contract law
  • You ensure compliance with the compliance programme in Belgium and Luxembourg (in particular with regard to competition law, the code of conduct, the fight against corruption, data confidentiality, etc.)
  • You constantly think about how to improve your scope by changing, automating and/or digitizing

Who are we looking for?

  • Master's degree in law. Manama or LL.M is a plus
  • Perfect command of English and one of the national languages (Dutch or French) with a good understanding of the other national language
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience at an international law firm or in a similar position in a legal department of an international company
  • Knowledge of and experience in European and Belgian competition law, commercial law, contract law and dispute resolution
  • Experience in dealing with complex legal issues at an international level
  • Strong analytical skills, articulate, flexible, resilient, able to perform in stressful situations, strong priority and project management skills
  • "Owner" mentality, drives results and takes on challenges
