Founded in 1949, headquartered in Luxembourg and operating under the supervision of the European Central Bank, Quintet serves wealthy individuals and their families, as well as a broad range of institutional and professional clients, including family offices, foundations and external asset managers.


The successful candidate will work as part of the Group Legal Function as Executive Counsel, and in such role provide guidance and direction to the more junior members in the Legal team in Luxembourg. Among his daily tasks, he/she will have to work on the identification and advice pertinent mitigation of legal risks in Luxembourg and alignment with other locations in terms of Group matters, but also to collaborate closely with the legal teams of Quintet Group in Belgium, UK, Germany and the Netherlands in order to identify synergies and ensure a harmonized approach to legal topics.
The identification, reporting and management of legal risks, as well as active litigation and complaint management and reporting in adherence to the Group Legal Risk Framework, will also be part of his/her duties, as well as working on legal matters aligned to the Group Legal Charter. He/she will be asked to participate in meetings and committees (as well as representing the bank in banking sector working groups), but also to work closely with and provide legal advice to executives, senior management, Compliance and other control functions to ensure visibility and understanding of regulatory and legal changes relevant to Luxembourg (with a Group focus). 

The successful candidate is based in Luxembourg or willing to relocate to Luxembourg.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide guidance and direction to the Luxembourg legal team 
  • Steering and management of capabilities and priorities in the team in collaboration with the Group Chief Legal Officer, including supporting team members to grow in their role and provide a platform to them
  • Strategic problem solving and trusted adviser on a broad range of issues, influencing strategic decision-making (except Tax)
  • Collaborate closely with another team member at the same level being in charge of coordinating the legal teams outside of Luxembourg
  • Being able to support the Group Chief Legal Officer on Group projects and Group initiatives when required, while providing main support to Quintet Luxembourg 
  • Teamwork and collaboration Group player, supportive of colleagues and the team, with the ability to deal in a transparent, proactive and collegiate manner
  • Being able to communicate and influence stakeholders (internal clients) and engage and manage external law firms in a cost efficient manner when required

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management 
  • Excellent legal expertise in the banking sector in Luxembourg with focus on wealth management 
  • Strong regulatory background, including MiFID and ability to assess the impact of upcoming regulations
  • Excellent knowledge of banking products and processes and general knowledge of the financial markets
  • Very good knowledge of legal, compliance and regulatory risks applicable to the banking industry 
  • Ideally, the successful candidate has gained experience in Asset Servicing or is willing to develop in this area

  • Clear view on the strategy of the Group and its entities, the goals and challenges faced by the bank
  • Ability to adapt to organizational and strategic changes

Technical Skills

  • 10 years plus of relevant experience as a legal adviser and/or in a law firm in the banking / financial sector in Luxembourg
  • Qualified lawyer or bar admission

Languages Skills

  • Fluent in English and French (verbally and written), other relevant languages (Dutch, German) would be an advantage. The working language is English
