For a company based in Brussels, Vialegis is searching for a Legal Counsel with a good knowledge of general commercial law and contracts and data protection. 

Description of the vacancy

You are a true sparring partner for our various departments that you proactively support and advise on various legal questions. You think along with the business and search together for solutions that guarantee our operational and commercial activities while meeting our business requirements and needs

  • You give advice on a wide range of legal questions, issues, problems, etc. linked to the companies activities (mainly data protection, economic law, commercial practices, media, etc.);
  • When giving legal advice and support to the business, you think pragmatically, commercially but also critically and accurately in the interest of the company and the business.
  • You are jointly responsible for drafting, reviewing and following up agreements;
  • You ensure GDPR compliance and work closely with the DPO to this end;
  • You elaborate legal solutions;
  • You provide support in negotiations, transactions, ...;
  • You follow up disputes and legal proceedings;
  • You monitor legislation, trends and developments and identify their impact, risks, etc. on our activities.
  • You are jointly responsible for drawing up, updating and implementing the standard agreements and general terms and conditions of all our business lines
  • You ensure that the internal working instructions on contracts are updated and/or improved.
  • You work closely and complementarily with the other legal colleagues, exchanging knowledge and experience.
  • You participate proactively in projects and initiatives aimed at process efficiency.
  • Become a natural "Go to" lawyer for all internal clients.

Profile

  • You have a master's degree in law and at least 5 years of relevant experience with a good knowledge of data protection. Knowledge of financial law is a plus.
  • Experience within a law firm is a plus.
  • You have a proactive and driven working attitude.
  • You are hands-on, positive and demonstrate a good dose of entrepreneurship.
  • You dare to look at things critically and have well-developed analytical skills.
  • You are solution- and result-oriented.
  • You are customer-oriented and are able to quickly respond to the needs and requirements of the business.
  • You are a strong and diplomatic communicator.
  • You work fluently with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • You are French or Dutch speaking with knowledge of the other language and English (both spoken and written).
