Global law firm Linklaters has announced the election of 34 new partners and promotion of 48 lawyers to counsel with effect from 1 May 2025. Within the Belgian practice, two new partners have been elected and three lawyers newly promoted to counsel. Linklaters Belgium’s Managing Partner, Stefaan Loosveld, said: “It is our great pleasure to announce the election of Laurens Cools (Corporate & Finance) and Liliane Gam (Antitrust and Foreign Investment) as new partners, and the appointment of Evita Bassot (Corporate & Finance), Tom Cobbaert (Corporate & Finance) and Gert-Jan Hendrix (Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations) as new counsel in Belgium, all effective as of 1 May 2025. Please join us in congratulating them for their fantastic career achievement, which is at the same time testimony to our continued drive and commitment to offer the best legal teams to our clients in Belgium and across the world.”
Linklaters Belgium’s new Partners
Laurens Cools’ election to the partnership reinforces the leadership of Linklaters Belgium’s finance practice, whilst aligning with the firm’s global strategy to strengthen Linklaters’ market-leading global practices in energy transition, infrastructure, and restructuring & insolvency.
The election of Liliane Gam strengthens Linklaters’ Brussels competition practice, in particular increasing Linklaters’ capacity to address complex behavioural investigations and cartel investigations. Additionally, Liliane’s promotion will bring a sharper focus to the energy sector amid the evolving regulations across the EU.
Linklaters Belgium’s new Counsel
The recent promotion of Evita Bassot, Tom Cobbaert, and Gert-Jan Hendrix to counsel, significantly bolsters Linklaters Belgium's offerings. Evita’s extensive experience in big ticket and (financially) complex M&A mandates, with a focus on cross-border transactions in energy transition and private equity, will further enhance the transactional practice. Tom’s expertise in debt and equity-linked capital markets transactions solidifies the finance offering and extends the ESG advisory practice. Meanwhile, Gert-Jan’s authority in class actions and expert advice in restructuring and insolvency strengthens the contentious services offering and engagement in the restructuring & insolvency market.
