Linklaters elects 3 new Partners and promotes 3 new Counsel in Belgium

Linklaters has elected 27 new Partners and promoted 49 lawyers to Counsel across its global platform, with effect from 1 May 2024.

The new Counsel promotions span 14 countries across Asia, Europe and North America, and are drawn from 11 practice areas across the firm. In addition, there is also one promotion to Counsel in Zhao Sheng Law Firm, Linklaters’ joint operation firm in China. This promotion also took effect from 1 May 2024.

With diversity, equity and inclusion being at the heart of Linklaters’ culture and values, the firm is pleased to have again met its 40% global gender diversity target for female Partner promotions and its 15% target for under-represented minority ethnic Partners in new Partner elections annually (UK & US).

Linklaters Belgium is particularly thrilled to welcome Ina Lunneryd (Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group), Lodewick Prompers (Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group), and Nele Van Kerrebroeck (Employment & Incentives) in Brussels to the global Partnership.

Ina has a wide range of experience across advisory, investigatory and transactional aspects of Antitrust & Foreign Investment law in the EU and Sweden, including merger control investigations and abuse of dominance cases. She is currently advising a number of global companies and investment funds with navigating the issues raised by the FSR. Ina also has significant expertise in State aid, and has recently assisted clients with appeals to the EU General Court against Commission decisions on alleged tax sweeteners. Ina advises companies and private equity firms across a wide range of sectors, including energy, tech and pharmaceuticals.

Lodewick has extensive experience at both national and EU level in the antitrust aspects of complex global M&A deals, including remedy processes. He has successfully advised clients on market-leading deals, investigations and litigation in the chemicals, healthcare, financial services, media, mining, mobility and technology sectors. He is also the go-to person for any queries related to Belgium, Luxembourg or the Netherlands on antitrust investigations and litigation, merger control, foreign investment control and foreign subsidies regulation.

Nele advises leading corporations and financial institutions, including ½ of the BEL20 index, on their most significant and strategic employment and incentives challenges. Nele guides her clients through major transformations. Her core expertise includes assisting clients in individual and collective dismissals, including representing clients in court, negotiations with unions, and employee representative bodies, C-level contract drafting, transfer of undertakings, incentives, GDPR and HR data protection matters, as well as internal investigations and whistleblowing matters.

Aedamar Comiskey, Senior Partner and Chair of Linklaters, commented: “A big congratulations to our new Partners and Counsel. The bench strength of talent we have coming through to the Partnership really is exceptional – each member of this cohort has made a huge contribution to the firm, always delivering the best for our clients.

Stefaan Loosveld, Managing Partner, Linklaters Belgium, said: "Every season and time of the year has its niceties. One of the great things about the spring season is that we can announce, again with much pride and joy, the wonderful news about the three Partner elections and three Counsel promotions in Belgium, all effective as of 1 May 2024."
