To strengthen the Legal & Compliance Department, Servier is looking for a dynamic Legal & Compliance Officer.

The Legal & Compliance Officer will report directly to the local Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Manager and to the Legal & Compliance Director for France. He/She will provide help with legal advice and legal & compliance affairs for Servier BeLux. The position is based in Brussels, Belgium.

Function

Legal role: 

  • Legal affairs: main point of contact for both the local team and global Servier team for all legal affairs within Belgium/Luxembourg.  It includes but is not restricted to help with : diverse contracts, commercial policies, general legal advice, template drafting and internal procedure, help with litigation, interpretation of legal documentation, competition law, pharma law etc.
  • Be an active member of the Servier BeLux team.
  • Hand on approach on legal matters as the main legal point of contact in Belgium and Luxembourg for internal and Servier Group legal needs.
  • Close collaboration with and training from the Legal & Compliance Director for France regular meetings, briefings, transmissions of regular reports, availability for update of significant matters.
  • New legislation follow-up, analysis of legal changes.
  • Setting up of legal newsletters.
  • Provide regular onsite and online training for Servier BeLux.
  • Direct and conduct periodic reviews and updates related to internal legal policies and procedures.
  • Together with the Legal & Compliance Director for France monitor the law firm network under HQ guidelines ensuring cost optimization.
  • Provide expertise on data privacy law (GDPR) liaised with the Global compliance team.


Compliance role:

  • Support the local Servier BeLux compliance initiatives in close collaboration with the local Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Manager.
  • Assist in promoting an ethical culture within the company as well as promoting, implementing and monitoring ethical standards.
  • Assist in ensuring that the company’s activities comply with ethical principles.
  • Assist in providing guidance to the affiliate on compliance issues.
  • Assist in performing risk assessment, trend analysis, root cause analysis and best practice recommendations.
  • Assist in conflicts of interest management.
  • Learn and assist in maintaining knowledge of all industry codes, monitor key developments and assess the potential impact on the business.
  • Work closely and seek help from the Regional compliance manager and other members of the compliance global organization, to understand and helping to set compliance policy, strategy, and direction to be applied internationally.

Profile 

Belgium Master’s degree in Law with an experience of 3-5 years within a Life Sciences law firm and/or an inhouse legal department of a company active in the Life Sciences sector.

  • Experience in Compliance and data privacy law is a plus.
  • Unquestioned integrity and high personal standards of excellence.
  • Fluent in French and a good knowledge of English and Dutch or fluent in Dutch and a good knowledge of English and French.
  • Business Partner who is solution-oriented: ability to look outside the box, problem solver.
  • Self-motivated, dedicated team player who will take a proactive approach in managing, prioritizing, and seeking to continuously improve internal legal function.
  • Very good computer skills (Microsoft tools) and ability to quickly learn new IT tools.
