With over 50 years of experience we serve as SEB's cross-border centre of excellence for Private Wealth Management for Nordic nationals living outside the Nordic area. Our Luxembourg office is the international hub for SEB funds, which are registered in 22 countries worldwide. We also provide corporations and institutions from SEB's home markets with a wide range of services, including custody and transaction processing, as well as depositary bank services to Luxembourg investment funds.


About the role

The SEB Luxembourg legal team manages all legal matters relevant to the Luxembourg office. This includes advising our fund services business, private banking business as well as corporate legal matters, providing pragmatic Luxembourg law counsel to help the business grow.

 

As a (junior) Legal Counsel, you will report to the Head of Legal and will be responsible for:

  • Advising and communicating with the business on banking and financial service regulation
  • Participating in negotiations and drafting of legal documentation
  • Supporting strategic initiatives and regulatory projects
  • Supporting stakeholders resolving everyday issues

 

We are looking for:

  • A degree in law from an EU jurisdiction. Luxembourg, Belgian, or French law degree is considered an asset
  • 1-5 years of experience working in a law firm or as in-house counsel ideally advising on matters relating to the fund industry and/or private banking
  • Knowledge of Luxembourg and European law relating to the fund industry and/or retail banking
  • Excellent command of both oral and written English. Knowledge of French is preferred, and knowledge of Spanish and/or Nordic languages is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills and detail-oriented mindset
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to keep on learning
  • Structured approach to work and solution oriented
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as critical advice capability
  • Result oriented and self-driven with focus on identifying and addressing legal risks
  • High sense of responsibility and ability to work independently and under pressure
