Description of the vacancy

As a Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating and actively promoting a high level of integrity and ethical conduct throughout the organisation
  • Reviewing, advising and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, service level agreements, consultancy agreements, outsourcing and a variety of business supply agreements across the full range of Belgian business models and supports across the rest of the region
  • Supporting the Belgian management team and rest of Europe region on a wide range of legal and compliance issues
  • Identifying and advising on the legal risks and considerations relating to implementation of business programmes and initiatives. Finding practical, pragmatic and commercially focused mitigations and solutions
  • Providing support for regional and global projects
  • Providing robust advice relating to data protection, privacy and cyber security issues
  • Working with the broader legal team with the creation and maintenance of user-friendly precedent contracts with clear negotiation parameters and contract playbooks.
  • Facilitating improved processes and ways of working and supporting the innovative use of technology to simplify and improve the provision of legal services.
  • Providing training on legal and compliance matters
  • Raising awareness around key legal and commercial risks and supporting the implementation and embedding of global legal and compliance policies and sustainability goals
  • Managing external counsel and the associated budget and deliverables in respect of specialist issues and disputes
  • Managing disputes/ litigation and their settlement in line with agreed budgets
  • Taking on any other duties within your skills and abilities, wherever reasonably instructed
  • Supporting the wider legal team, including in different jurisdictions, wherever appropriate

Profile

  • Experience of management and negotiation of complex commercial legal matters
  • Demonstrate a commercial mindset and relationship management skills to build relationships with key stakeholders at multiple levels across SThree
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in relation to the use of Sharepoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and ideally an enthusiastic early adopter of new Technology generally
  • Work independently within functional policy and against the confines of legal practice
  • Use judgement and experience on matters not seen before and consult with the General Counsel UK, France & Belgium on matters with a potentially high impact
  • Highly collaborative and positive mindset
  • Demonstrate a genuine desire to add broad value to the function and to make changes which will have a positive impact on the legal function and company as a whole
